Wondering how the Futile Fix would sound coming from your coaching business? The examples below take this Instagram reel idea two ways, from a productivity coach for overwhelmed founders and a nutrition coach for chronic dieters.

The recipe

Topic: The thing your audience reaches for that they know is not working
Take: The futility you have watched play out with your own clients
Format: A deadpan ironic skit played completely straight, no music, no wink
The structure
  • Open sincerely: State the futile fix as if it is real advice. No wink, no setup, no music.
  • Escalate the reassurance: Keep encouraging them to do more of the thing that is failing. The more sincere you sound, the funnier it gets.
  • Use their exact words: Say the sentence they already say to themselves. The closer to their real self-talk, the better it works.
  • Never break character: Do not explain the joke or admit the bit. Let the viewer be the one who catches it.
  • Keep it short: Setup, twist, out, under fifteen seconds. A tight loop is what gets rewatched.

Your Studio follows these beats when it writes your script.

Why it worked

He picks up the thing people already reach for when they feel bad, then recommends more of it with a completely straight face. Everybody watching knows it does not work, and that is the whole engine.

Because he never breaks character to explain the futility, the viewer has to catch it themselves, and being the one who caught it is what makes this funny instead of preachy.

Examples

A productivity coach for overwhelmed founders

The reason you're behind is you haven't found the right task app yet.

She recommends migrating everything one more time with total sincerity and lets the viewer recognize their own Sunday afternoon.

A nutrition coach for chronic dieters

You just need one more perfect Monday, and this time it'll stick.

She walks through the restart ritual in loving detail and never once says what is actually wrong with it.
