The hook template

10/10 side quests you need to do to what they get out of it before your deadline

The hook in the wild

“10/10 side quests you need to do to bond with your teen before they leave for college.”
An empty nest coach for moms in their 50s · She lists small missions like a drive with no destination and a cooking night, and frames each one as a memory banked before drop-off.
“10/10 side quests you need to do to fall in love with running before race day.”
A beginner running coach for women over 40 · She lists a sunrise loop, a run to a bakery and a first trail, and frames each one as a reason to lace up that has nothing to do with pace.

Small, doable experiences that get your people an outcome they want
Take
The one-line reason each quest matters, from what you've seen with clients
Format
A simple yap, straight to camera, with the hook as a text overlay

The structure

  1. The side quest hook

Open with the hook on screen and say it out loud. Name the outcome and the deadline in the first sentence so the viewer knows the payoff and the clock.

  2. Why it matters

Give one sentence on why this outcome matters, drawn from what you have seen with clients. Keep it to a single line so the list starts fast.

  3. The first quests

Rattle off the first five quests. Each one must be small, specific and easy to picture (a place, a time, a thing to bring), with one line on what it builds.

  4. The mid-list plug

Between quest five and quest six, say in one sentence where they can get the full list or work with you. Keeping it inside the list means viewers stay for the rest.

  5. The last quests and the question

Finish the final quests, then ask which one they are doing first so the comments fill with answers.

Why it worked

"Side quest" turns self-improvement into a game, so each item feels like a fun mission instead of homework. Every quest is vivid and doable this week (a movie alone with your favorite snacks, a picnic for one with a view), which makes the video a checklist people save and send to a friend.

The "before summer ends" deadline adds urgency, and the one line of payoff (enjoying your own company builds better relationships) gives the small stuff real meaning.

She drops her list plug between quest five and quest six, so the pitch sits inside the list. Viewers who want the last two stay through the plug instead of leaving at it.
