Remix Recipe №78
The Power Phrasebook
Hand your people the exact words that make them sound sure of themselves, and name the feeling they're hiding while they say them.
The hook template
Easy one-liners that project how they want to come across when inside you feel like what they secretly feel
The hook in the wild
“Easy one-liners that project confidence when inside you feel like a deer in the headlights.”
“Easy one-liners that project inner authority at the doctor when inside you feel like it's all in your head.”
The recipe
- Topic
- The exact lines that make your people sound like they know what they're doing
- Take
- The one word inside each line that changes how the room responds
- Format
- A simple yap, straight to camera, with the hook as a text overlay
The structure
- The private feeling
Open with the hook and say the private feeling as a quote in your viewer's own words, the way they would actually think it, not a description of it.
- Line one and its word
Give the first exact line they can say, then stop on the one word doing the work and explain what it signals to the listener.
- Line two and its word
Give the second line, then name the single word that changes how the room responds and why.
- Line three and its word
Give the third line and its load-bearing word. Keep the explanation to one or two sentences so the pace stays quick.
- Line four and its word
Give the fourth line and its word, then close on how using all four changes the way people treat them.
Your Studio follows these beats when it writes your script.
Why it worked
She hands over four lines that change how a room responds to you, and then does the thing most script videos skip: she analyses one word inside each line rather than the line itself. "Using the word direction does something to people's brains. It's forward looking, it's bias for action." That word-level reasoning is what makes it a phrasebook instead of a list, and it is the part people repeat back.
The hook earns the attention for all of it. It names the outcome you want and the private feeling you carry in the same breath, in your own words rather than about you.
The private admission is voiced as a quote, not described. "On the inside you're like, I'm just a baby" is something the viewer has actually thought in those exact words, and that recognition is what buys the next thirty seconds.
