Here's how the Quotable Command translates to your solo business. Two takes below: an improv teacher for terrified beginners and a pastry teacher for home bakers push the same Instagram reel idea in different directions.
The recipe
- Say the line cold: No setup, no attribution. Crediting it makes the video about the source. Leaving it out makes it sound like yours to say.
- Switch to command: Move from quoting to ordering. I need you to. Direct second person, no hedging.
- Give permission to the stuck: Say it is fine to pause. The person who most needs this is already behind, and an order without mercy makes them close the app.
- Close on a second line: End on another quotable line rather than a summary, so the last thing on screen is screenshottable.

Why it worked
She opens cold on a borrowed aphorism and never says where it came from or who said it. No attribution, no setup. Crediting it would make the video about the source, and leaving it out makes the line sound like something she believes rather than something she read.
Then the register shifts from quoting to commanding. Direct second person, a repeated refrain, and permission built in for the person already struggling. She closes on a second quotable line rather than a summary, so the video ends on something you could screenshot.
The line itself has to clear a real bar. Under eight words, actually true, about the person rather than the craft, and no jargon. Charged words help. Idiot and genius are both loaded, and that contrast does real scroll-stopping work.
