Try remixing the Concept Crush for your coaching business. The examples below show how a business coach for people who self-sabotage right at the finish line and a confidence coach for people who dread being perceived would run this Instagram reel idea.

The recipe

Topic: A named idea from a thinker in your field that you are obsessed with
Take: The everyday moment that made it click for you
Format: A simple yap, straight to camera, no cuts
The structure
  • Name it and who it came from: Borrowing it is the point. Credited to someone else, it arrives pre-credentialed and you never have to defend it.
  • State it plainly: One sentence, no jargon. If you cannot say it plainly you are not obsessed enough with it yet.
  • Explain the mechanism: Why it actually works, briefly. This is the part that makes it feel like an idea rather than a quote.
  • Land it in one everyday moment: Oddly specific beats broadly relatable. Call it a random example first, so it reads as a thought you are having rather than a point you are making.

Your Studio follows these beats when it writes your script.

Why it worked

He does not present as the expert. He presents as a fan. My current obsession is this idea called the Backwards Law is the posture of someone who just found something and cannot wait to show you, which is far more inviting than someone teaching you their framework.

The concept is borrowed from Alan Watts, so it arrives pre-credentialed and he never has to defend it. Then he does the thing most people skip: he grounds an abstract philosophical idea in one oddly specific everyday moment. Headphones on a train, looking out the window like the main character, and the sadness starts feeling almost good. That example is the entire reason the idea sticks.

He also calls his own example random before he gives it. This is such a random example, but. That one disclaimer drops your guard right before the most relatable thirty seconds of the video.

Examples

A business coach for people who self-sabotage right at the finish line

My current obsession is this idea called the Upper Limit Problem.

She names Gay Hendricks, states it in one sentence, then grounds it in picking a fight at home the same week she signed her biggest client.

A confidence coach for people who dread being perceived

My current obsession is this idea called the Spotlight Effect.

She names Thomas Gilovich, states it plainly, then grounds it in changing her shirt three times before a coffee nobody else remembers.
